The "Double Talkin' Jive" video is back in production and scheduled for release on either Christmas Eve (12/24/01) or New Years Eve (12/31/01). These dates were chosen because our best estimation of when the video would be completed, came up with "the last week in December." So it'll be either of the two Eves, depending on how things go. Every effort was made to over estimate and give plenty of time for delays and/or problems concerning the time line, so we can almost PROMISE the video's release on either date.
And a special note to Chinese Democracy BB readers; Since that BB has the most visitors compared to others, bookmark this page because undone has recently informed us that she may not be renewing her domain registration and might pull the bb down, so you might not see me post the announcement at another bb when the video is finished. If you know how to use News Groups, I post frequently at alt.rock-n-roll.metal.gnr (Some browsers or Internet Services may not launch that link correctly. If you haven't checked in in a while, download the One Minute Intro of the video at the link below. After clicking on the link below, click down through the page to the SECOND download. This Real Video file was just posted a few weeks ago and is DIFFERENT than the One Minute Preview. As always, when you get to the actual link to the Real Video file at the page below, RIGHT-click the link unless you have a cable modem. This is different than the usual LEFT-clicking of internet links.
The Introduction of the "Double Talkin' Jive" video has been upload to the link below. This one minute Real Video file has a sound clip from "99 Red Balloons" by Nena (German lyrics), a sound clip from "Fantasy" by Aldo Nova, and some quotes by Jim Morrison.
The idea to render into Real Video format,
one or two more full length Guns N' Roses videos has been abandoned because
we have no time. In exchange, the Introduction to the "Double Talkin' Jive"
video has been uploaded instead.

The release of the "Double Talkin' Jive" video has been delayed by at least 5 months. Reasons are complex. One being "financial." Edward is moving to Redlands, California in a few months, and he has to pool his financial resources that would have normally been spent on the video and preparation for the video, in order to make the 2,500 mile move. After his arrival in Southern Cal, he WILL be able to continue all activities relating to the completion of the video, and it will probably be completed by December 2001. He may even film a scene in front of Axl's gate on Latigo Canyon Road. And by the way; This new time line has nothing to do with Guns N' Roses delaying their European Tour to around the same time frame. That's just a coincidence. And his move to California has nothing to do with trying to get closer to Axl like some kind of "Mark David Chapman" thing. He simply got a totally tits offer to move to Cali. That simple. Besides that, he'll be over a hundred miles away from Malibu.
As we've done before, when we've made the visitors wait longer than expected, we'll upload something new to Edward's web site. Probably a full length Guns video. Probably "The Garden" or "The Garden of Eden." Probably BOTH :) The video or videos will be added to the main video page (Click Here) where the other full length Guns music videos can be downloaded.
The next update of this web page will be after the full length video or videos are uploaded. The next update after that will be when Edward arrives in California... sometime in October.

The One Minute Preview of the “Double Talkin’ Jive” video has been uploaded. If you’re new to video files associated with The Illusion, you’ll be shocked at the quality of this Real Video file. Be sure to follow the download instructions carefully at the link below.
This one minute section of the video is from the beginning of the second chorus, and goes most of the way through Slash’s lead. The entire video will be over five minutes long and have several different subject matters... much like the “Estranged” video. So this preview doesn’t include the intro video footage, the footage during the beginning of the song, the footage of “Skip” performing the verses, or “Skip” at the end during the slow part of the song. There will also be some video footage of something as the credits roll at the end.

.
Filming has begun for the "Double Talkin' Jive"
video. But unfortunately, the video probably won't be released until June
15th. (June 30th at the latest) For what it's worth, those first pieces
of video consisted of a burger being flipped and placed onto a plate, a
Garlic Chicken Linguini dish being tossed into the air and slid into a
bowl, and a large salad being thrown together. This was filmed at a restaurant
with a 3-cook line. (The "Line" is where all the cooking is done) These
scenes are very quick and short. Edward spent over an hour that night,
"filming 5 seconds of a music video."
:)
The next pieces filmed will be of a bus boy vacuuming the dining room carpet, and a Haitian guy hosing down the Line of a restaurant's kitchen. (That's all for now)
Other filming, dealing with the delay, won't begin for at least another 2 weeks. This has to do with a weight program Edward had to start on March 10th to even FILM certain scenes of the video. This was actually the REAL reason that the video was announced in the first week of March, but wasn't going to be released until May 30th at the earliest. Having been down to a minimum weight of 119 pounds, Edward had to gain at least 31 pounds in order for certain scenes to "meld" together the way he hoped they would.
The Good News:
Now that he's gained 22 pounds and he's at
141, he can already tell that the scenes will come out exactly as he planned
them to. If they weren't going to come out that way, he would have scrapped
the whole video. He wasn't sure if the scenes would come out the way he
wanted them to because it's been so long since he was at his normal body
weight. (150 lb.... 1989) Since it's been so long, he couldn't remember
what his body's weight placement and muscle contours looked like. Everybody's
is a little different, which is what makes everybody LOOK different. And
since genetics is the main theme of the video, it was important that the
two people in it look exactly the same from the neck down. And now we know
they WILL. It was also important that Edward's weight placement and muscle
contours look the way they do WITHOUT working out any certain areas of
his body... just eating and normal exercise. If he had to work out certain
areas to make his body look a certain way, that would have been the SECOND
and only other reason to scrap the entire video.
The secondary subject matter, as stated in the last press release, has to do with "Making Money." Now that we've mentioned above what the first filmed scenes are (not necessarily being filmed in chronological order of the song), we might as well tell you all that it will follow a waiter as he takes an order, the cooks cook it, the waiter brings out the food, clears the plates, drops the check, and gets the money. This should be about 53 seconds worth of scenes after the two verses and chorus', and during Slash's lead before the music slows down. And of course, there will also be intermittent scenes of Slash during that 53 seconds. The waiter/waitress scenes will actually include other servers at Edward's restaurant... not just himself.
Again, the "Bottom" for the video (the music from Tokyo I) can already be downloaded at the link below. This audio track was edited for length and EQ'ed. The audio track doesn't include any Intro video or audio, or any video or music that might be playing as the credits roll at the end. Also, since we've delayed the release of the video, we'll probably post a preview of the video before it's official release.
Edward Slayton, author of The Illusion and the only Guns fan to never have full length Guns N' Roses music videos removed from his web site, is producing another music video. This one, to celebrate the return of Guns N' Roses, is for the song "Double Talkin' Jive." The video will be available for free download right here.
The sound track, as with his other video for "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," will come from the Tokyo concert vhs tape. The sound track for the new video is also already available for download at the link below. This 3 minute and 24 second Real Audio file doesn't include any introduction sounds, voices, or music. It also doesn't include the music that will play at the end as the credits are rolling. Unfortunately, no video previews will be posted online before the release date.
The target date for the release of "Double Talkin' Jive" is May 31st... June 30th at the latest. Part of the reason for the 3 month production time has to do with the fact that there will be some Time Lapse footage in the video. So some of the video footage won't even exist until late May. This is also the reason that there won't be any video previews posted ahead of time. Another reason for the long production time is the fact that we have to wait for the Home Video release of Arnold's "The 6th Day," to use some pieces of it in the video.
The video will have a big surprise for readers of The Illusion... an "Unveiling" of sorts. The chorus parts of the song will be performed by Axl. And the verses will be performed by the individual being unveiled. The video will also include footage from the Tokyo concert vhs tape, as well as footage from the Paris Pay Per View concert. Besides the unveiling of the person mentioned above, the Live footage, and the scenes from "The 6th Day," the theme for the rest of the video images will be "Making Money."
Until then, you can visit the "Audio & Video" page to download these full length music videos...
